I bought this SKYORA water distiller primarily to make distilled water for my CPAP machine. Sure, buying distilled water isn’t outrageously expensive, but over time it adds up—especially since I plan to use CPAP long-term. Plus, the convenience of making it at home whenever I need it is a big win. We’ve even used the distilled water for cleaning and cooking.The unit comes with everything you need to get started, including carbon filter pouches that install inside the nozzle (the post-condensation spout). It shuts off automatically when the water is fully distilled, which is a great safety feature. The process does take a few hours, but it’s easy to time around your day (I usually run it on a day when I am working from home).One caution: be very careful with the internal steam baffle under the condenser. It’s a helpful extra barrier for purity, but it’s only spot-welded or soldered in, and it can come loose if handled directly. That happened to me, but SKYORA support was great—they sent a replacement part quickly, and I handled the install myself without issue.It also comes with descaling crystals ( citric acid, I think) to help clean out mineral buildup in the boiling chamber. After a few uses, you’ll start to see scale accumulate, so I recommend a thorough cleaning every few months.The included 1-gallon container is also a nice touch—sturdy, with a comfortable handle and a design similar to larger water jugs. It makes storing and pouring easy.I've owned and used this machine for a little over a year now and it has worked flawlessly for me and feels well-made. If you need or just prefer to make your own distilled water regularly, this is a fantastic option. It's reliable, efficient, and backed by responsive customer service!

The Skyora Water Distillation Machine has been an excellent investment. We use the distilled water it produces in our ice machine and humidifiers, and there is zero buildup—no scale, no residue, nothing. The water quality is outstanding, and you can immediately see the results. We love it so much we’re buying one for the grandparents!

Takes about 4 hours to distill the full volume of the included jug (4 hrs 7 min the one time I tracked it).Came with the activated carbon packet pre-loaded in the dispenser nozzle. The instructions tell you to soak the packet in water for 5 minutes before using though, so I took it out to do that and put it back in. It's easy enough to pop the nozzle out and back in.The included instructions are not very good. Lots of text (kinda rough translation), few pictures (and they're small). But, the unit is self explanatory enough. Fill the chamber with water to the fill line, put the head back on, connect the power cable between the head and the base, turn it on with the jug below the nozzle and wait. You have to press the reset button between uses to start it off again.CAUTION when removing the head / refilling. It can be hot (it's steam after all) and I found that there's a bit of pressure that builds in the chamber, so some water sprays out when removing the head after it's finished. If it doesn't spray out, it'll drip from the head when you remove it. So there's some cleanup involved between uses.Leaves behind a black sooty gunk in the bottom of the chamber after it's done (if that's what's in my tap water then yikes lol) - I've just been wiping up what I can with a paper towel between uses.Despite the downsides, it does what's advertised and for a reasonable price. Yay for no longer having to buy gallons of distilled water from the store.P.S. - I have no idea what the metal spout lid is for (in one of my review pictures). It's not threaded so it doesn't fit onto the provided jug. 🤷

If you treat this product right, it will serve you well. The negative reviews deterred me, but I have now made four gallons of distilled water without any problem. The negative reviews, for the most part, can be attributed to customers not understanding what's going on. Number one - plug in both plugs securely. If these plugs are only partially inserted, they can cause high resistance, causing high heat, and causing melted plastic. Number two - make sure the seal is in the proper orientation. And before putting it in place, lubricate it with water, both the seal and the top of the stainless interior. If you have a leak, it's due to a bad seal. The stainless tub is a solid piece with no place to leak. Number three - don't let the cycle go through to completion. Check it after 30 minutes to make sure water is coming out, then wait three hours and turn it off. Leaving an inch or so of water in the bottom keeps mineral buildup soft, and 90% of it can be removed with a sponge. Clean it after each use with a sponge and rinse. After four gallons, I have only a small patch of mineral buildup stuck to the bottom of the unit. Eventually, I will have to use an acid solution, but it may not be for many more cycles. The one failure I have yet to figure out is the stainless-steel interior's deformation. At a guess, it had to do with high heat, which will be at its maximum when the tub is dry. Another good reason to stop the cycle before it runs out of water. I paid $50+ for this unit, and it will pay for itself after just 25 gallons. I consider it a great investment, and I like the idea of being a little more self-sufficient.

My husband loves this thing. He uses daily and sets the machine and it distills his water without doing anything else. This would be a great buy for someone who has a piece of equipment that requires distilled water. No more buying jugs of it at the store and hauling it home and into the house. Great way of getting rid of all the bad stuff in the water. You will be surprised at what you find came from your tap water. It is a bit tall and large so you will need a bit of space on your counter for it or use and fill your jug that comes with the machine and then put away until next use. We have had this for a while now and the distiller has been durable. Like I said he uses this almost daily and it still functions as it did on day 1 of use. It has a handle of top for ease of carrying to place on counter or put away.

Purchased this as an inexpensive way to get distilled water for my humidifier. It works perfectly for me and I haven't experienced any issues whatsoever. I clean it after ever use and only need a tiny amount of the citric acid crystals that came with the unit. Just a tiny bit of water just enough to cover the bottom by a quarter inch. Let it sit for a minute and any scale comes right off. I've only had it for about a week and I've made approximately 15 gallons of water so far. It takes 4 hrs per cycle to make 1 gallon. So the advertising saying 6 gals/day is accurate.

1. DO NOT run these things until they're empty. The "breaker" on the front isn't the greatest, but nice to have if you get distracted once in a blue moon.2. I have Alexa set to turn this off after 3 Hours 45 Minutes - perfect every time with ~3/4" water remaining; you can just set an alarm otherwise or a wall timer... just try to keep it under 4 hours. Be sure the TIMER is rated 15 Amps.3. Do not allow the two electrical plugs in back to get wet AND plug them into the unit - they will corrode if they're making contact. Allow everything to dry completely before plugging them back into the main unit. If they get wet - dry thoroughly first.For cleaning:---------------Each time the machine is used, minerals will get baked onto the stainless of the main unit. DO NOT try and scrub this off, you'll be wasting your time and possibly eroding the thin stainless shell. Instead, use the enclosed Citric Acid (Which you can buy a much larger jar at WalMart for ~$7 or here for $20 per 5lb bag!)How/When:---------------With a clean device, run a full gallon of water - empty the jug into what ever storage you've planned. Leave 1/2" to 3/4" of water! Approx 3 1/2 hours or so. Rinse the unit and refill when it cools a bit. Never put COLD water into a HOT ANYTHING. It never ends well.Run a second gallon (there will be a little residue stuck from the first one. It has no effect on the process or the water distilled.) With the remaining 3/4" of water, sprinkle in about 1/2 TSP of Citric Acid (included with the purchase) and run it for half an hour WITH the water jug set up. Once water begins to come out of the unit and into the jug it's okay to shut it off. Clean out the unit with a little dish soap and rinse thoroughly. Soap and/or Citric will leave a taste -- make sure it's rinsed well! You will want to take the top half, "fill" it with water from the sink, allow some to fill the condenser coil and then turn it over and empty it into the sink - water will come out of the nozzle. I usually rinse this a couple times any time I use Citric to avoid potential "taste" of the citric acid from getting into the distilled water. (Imagine the "taste" of concentrated lemon peel... that's basically how citric acid is made if it's not man-made.)Run another two gallons like before, but this time, for cleaning, fill the unit to the water line and then add the Citric. The Citric water will only "clean" what it can touch - so now we're cleaning it to the water line. Again, once water begins to come out of the unit it's okay to shut it off - I have Alexa doing cleanings for 30 minutes which works splendidly.(You can do 2 gallons and then a complete cleaning every time - it uses and wastes more water this way, thus the directions above, but if you want "clean, clean" it shouldn't hurt the machine any.)* NOTE: This hot, citric acid water is like bleach for cleaning - without the bleach! If you have hard-water which stains your sinks/toilets/etc. slowly/safely pour the used Citric Water into the toilet and allow it to soak for a while -- it can visibly help! If you allow it to cool a little, clean your stainless appliances with it!* Citric Acid is potentially corrosive. Avoid getting it in the AC outlets of the machine as it can pit the copper.* Water in general is dangerous when dealing with electricity. For more thorough safety, be sure to unplug the unit from the wall before doing ANY of the above. (or use a smart outlet which in effect does the same thing.)* The unit itself is leak-proof if setup and maintained properly. There is a large rubber "seal" on the top half which you will want to wipe down when cleaning the machine and look for defects/tears. When putting the top onto the unit - do so with a GENTLE force. The WEIGHT of the top is usually enough force. If this seal gets damaged, leaking is easily expected when the "full tank" comes to a boil.* DO NOT leave Citric water in the tank for ANY extended period of time. Once it has done its job, let it cool a little and dispose of it. It may not have an "eroding" effect on Stainless, but my thoughts are "why take the chance?" Some of the reviews showing "burn holes" in Stainless make me assume large quantities of Citric being left for long periods of time or the machine being allowed to run EMPTY making the metal become brittle over time - but that's just an educated guess. (Trust me, I'm an engineer! :) No really, I am!)* Finally, you'll want to replace the carbon filter around every 20-30 gallons or so (you'll likely "taste" when it's time to do so) There's filters on amazon that claim $10 for 100 (1.5") and $18 for 48 (3") which should work with this unit (the 1.5" ones will probably last "half" as long, but should "fit" nicer in the distiller.)WARNING: If you CRAM the filter into the nozzle too tightly, I'd imagine the unit WILL leak as the water will not be able to get through the filter fast enough and thus overflow the same way a coffee maker will...

I didn't want to buy distilled water for my humidifiers and waste all the plastic from the bottles, and I couldn't install an RO filter system. Using distilled water in the humidifiers has solved the problem I had with excessive white dust collecting and even clogging my furnace filter.The machine is very easy to use and clean. I see a lot of bad reviews and photos. All I can say is you are using/cleaning the machine wrong. Let me explain:First of all, the safety switch is a backup, not the primary method of ending the cycle. You need to stop the machine before the safety switch trips. Set a timer and find a mark on the plastic container so you know when it's done. I go to about 1cm higher then the top textured band on the plastic container. You should leave about 1cm of water in the kettle. The safety switch is based on a temperature sensor, not a low level sensor (which would be ideal). Once the kettle is fully evaporated, the temperature will rise, and the safety will trip. This is when everything gets baked on and this is where you get problems. Don't rely on the safety to stop the machine for you. Super corroded and cracked kettles are from excessive reliance on the safety switch.You should shut if off before the safety trips. Let it cool for a few minutes before opening so you don't burn your hands with the steam that comes out. Don't open it, dump it, then add cold water. This can cause rapid contraction of the steel, which could also lead to stress fractures. Add a tiny bit of the citric acid (about 1tsp is all you need) to about 1cm worth of water, and swirl it around to mix it. I've also used CLR cleaner. Just a small splash is all it takes. Use a sponge to clean the sides and bottom. No scrubbing is needed. No green pads, and no backs of the sponge. Only the soft side of the sponge is needed. The acid cleaner does all the work. It takes less than a minute to clean this way. I've done about 30 batches so far. My photos show right after finishing a batch while it's still dirty (and with 1cm of water still in it), and after cleaning. This must be cleaned after every single batch. Do not run it again without cleaning it first!To address other issues in reviews: If you are getting holes or pitting in your kettle, that is because you are using a cleaner with bleach in it. Bleach pits stainless steel. This is well known. Never use bleach on stainless steel. Sodium hypochlorite = bleach. Check your cleaners and make sure it doesn't have this. Acid based cleaners are what you want.There are some complaints that the plastic container doesn't fit under the nozzle. This is because your nozzle isn't fully seated. You need to push it outward more. I can see from people's photos that they do not have the nozzle installed properly. The container does fit properly under the nozzle. Pull that nozzle outward until you feel it seat properly.If you use this distiller properly, and clean it properly, it works perfectly and will last you a long time.

I got it for a humidifier and also car radiators. Why buy distilled water when I can make it?! Will pay for itself after… uhhh… 40 gallons. : /Notice these all look the same to me on here with prices all over the map. Some double what this one is. I have used a lot of products so I have confidence in this one.The machine itself…works well. Noise level is like a fan running on high. Takes forever to heat up, but once it gets going it’s not bad. If you want fluoride and potential AG chemicals out of your water you must use the charcoal filter. Distilling alone doesn’t remove those and toss the first couple batches unless you like charcoal in your water. Lots of YouTube videos on this.

This works great. My husband uses a CPAP and we now use a little humidifier in the bedroom at night so we bought this. It doesn't make a full gallon and at the beginning, he fills the unit up to the fill line from the faucet. After the water starts to come out, 2 hours later, he puts another 4-6 cups in it. He turns it off, lets it sit for 5-10 mins., then adds another 4-6 cups in it. Then let it go until the gallon jug is filled up. That way it doesn't dry out and scorch the bottom. If you follow the instructions that came with it, you will end up with a scorched bottom.

This water distiller is easy to use and maintain. The distillate is so pure it leaves no residue in my CPAP water tank. It paid for itself quickly. It looks well made and functions exactly as it should. The fan's exhaust is comfortably warm, at a good temperature for warming fingers and decrystallizing honey.On the down side for some, it's a large device and there is some noise from the relatively quiet fan. Helps to have water and electricity at hand.It meets my needs quite well.

I got this to distill water for my CPAP. It needs about 3 hours to distill 3 quarts of water and I make sure to not let it boil dry. I set a timer for 3 hours and shut it down after the time runs out. I got some clear 5/16 hose and connected that to the discharge. The other end goes into a 1 gallon jug so I can let the distilled water drain straight into the jug for storage instead of using the included vessel.

I used this all last winter, and have begun again this season with no issues to have distilled water for my humidifier. Side note - I ran a humidifier using tap water with a treatment added and had an entire household coated in powder like I just survived the 1930's dust bowl and my furnace filter was packed solid with it. So, only distilled water and can't afford to buy gallon after gallon so I got this. It has performed beautifully. As far as time invested, if I stay on top of filling, I could probably fill three containers a day. It is a bit noisy and puts out warm air so pick your location. Few things: If the model you are seeing has a spout that fits over the top of the jug, know that it will not fit over the spout and still tuck under the dispenser. No biggie, just weird and you don't need it. Also, the cleanser that comes to scour the container doesn't do squat. I just scrub with a cloth nearly every use, and there is build up for sure but it's modest and doesn't seem to affect functionality. And as advised, do make sure you have the top tightly sealed before turning on or you'll come back to a pool of water all over the place instead of in the jug. I also rushed into buying more charcoal filters, but haven't really gone through them that quickly. Durable so far.
